Hong Kong, 7 September 2025 – The Hong Kong Jockey Club is proud to announce the official launch of the 2025/26 horse racing season, beginning on Sunday, 7 September 2025, at Sha Tin Racecourse.
The season will open with a nine-race programme, featuring distances from 1000m to 1600m, and will include:
- 1200m Class 2 (80+) – the feature sprint of the day
- 1100m Class 1 (105-80) – a premier clash of speed and stamina
- 1000m Class 4 (60-40) – testing the city’s up-and-coming talent
- 1600m Class 5 (40-0) – closing the day with a tactical mile
Gates open at 11:40 AM, with the first race scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Upcoming Fixtures – September 2025
The excitement continues throughout the month, with both Sha Tin and Happy Valley staging world-class meetings:
- 10 September – Happy Valley: Evening racing under floodlights, highlighted by the 1200m Class 3 (80-60) and 1650m Class 5 (40-0).
- 14 September – Sha Tin: Competitive 1200m and 1400m Class 3 contests expected to draw strong entries.
- 17 September – Happy Valley: A key highlight will be the 1650m Class 2 (100-80), featuring some of Hong Kong’s finest middle-distance runners.
- 21 September – Sha Tin: A full card including the 1800m Class 4 (40-0), an early-season stamina test.
- 24 September – Happy Valley: Another floodlit fixture featuring the 1800m Class 3 (85-60).
- 28 September – Sha Tin: A blockbuster finale for the month with 10 races, including the unique 1400m Class 6 contest.
A Season of Excitement
The 2025/26 racing season will feature a total of 88 race meetings from September through July, including world-class events such as the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races in December and the prestigious Hong Kong Derby in March.
